There’s no “one size fits all” jeans, and there’s no “one size fits all” cheapest insurance. There’s no short cut. To find the cheapest for you, you have to shop around.

What’s the best (fully legal) way for a 17 year old to get cheap car insurance in the UK?

Question by PAUL: What’s the best (fully legal) way for a 17 year old to get cheap car insurance in the UK?
I’m looking at getting a car for my 17 year old son who has just passed his test, but am fairly horrified by the insurance quotes I’m getting for a Ford Ka. He will be the main driver of the vehicle, and I don’t want to claim he’s the second driver, as that would technically invalidate the insurance. Advice please.

Sorry but that’s the way it is in the UK, the only thing is to make sure the car you pick is a group one insurance, taking an advanced drivers course, used to cost around £200 ,will knock around 20% of the cost of insurance.

Hello, I would like to know if car insurance is lower or higher if you lease it instead of financing it?

It’s about the same, however if the car is totaled under the lease, the insurance has to pay out the sticker price of the car, not its actual cash value. Which in turn, leads to a surcharge on your insurance.
