You insurance card is supposed to be left in the car. It doesn’t have any of your personal information so it’s of no use to a thief. All it has is the insurance company name, your policy number, and a description of the car. If you have anything more than the insurance card in the car, like your policy, remove it. It doesn’t need to be there.

Your insurance papers are useless to a thief. The only bad thing is that they’ll know where you live, your name, and your birth date.In other words it’s useless to a thief, not unless the car is not reported stolen and a cop pulls him over then he can say he’s borrowing the car from you. Your insurance can fax you a temporary one in 10 minutes and get you the real thing in a week or two.

Usually insurance cards will only have your name, policy number, car information and VIN.

To an average thief, you don’t need to worry. Most of that information on your card is of no importance to them and there’s probably not much they could do with it.

If the thief were a computer geek or hacker, they could possibly get your social security, bank account and credit card numbers from the information listed on your insurance card. Anything is possible. Now adays, hackers only need one piece of info from you to make your life miserable, even if it’s just your name.

Contact the insurance company and get a replacement. I keep my insurance card in my wallet and one hidden in the car not in the glove compartment. It’s of no value to a thief even if they steal your car.

no, the only one that can use your insurance is you go to your agent and get another copy if you need it
